Ghanaian youngster Charles Sagoe Jr thrilled to train with Arsenal senior team
Prior to their impending Premier League encounter against Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, Charles Sagoe Jr., a Ghanaian winger of English birth who plays for Arsenal’s U-21 team, had the chance to train with the senior squad.
Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has resorted to some of the younger players, notably Sagoe Jr., to fill the voids left by injured players as he struggles with injury worries following their midweek meeting against Sporting Lisbon.
Sagoe Jr. impressed during the training session with the senior team and caught the eye of Reiss Nelson, who praised the young winger’s abilities and potential to succeed at Arsenal.
The 18-year-old expressed his gratitude on social media for the opportunity to train with the senior team. He tweeted, “I’m grateful for the opportunities God gives me every day!”
This season, Sagoe Jr. has played 19 games for Arsenal’s U-21s and has been involved in six goals, scoring four and assisting two.
