Court Dismisses Anas’ Suit Against Ken Agyapong And More Against Anas

A High Court Judge in Accra has dismissed a suit filed by controversial journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas against Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP) Kennedy Agyapong.

The journalist filed a GH¢25 million over some comments the MP had allegedly made against hin in public after airing his investigative piece #Number 12, which exposed some alleged rots in Ghana Football.

Justice Eric Baah, a Justice of the Court of Appeal who is sitting with additional responsibility as a High Court judge, delivering his judgement said Anas Aremeyaw’s case has no merit.

The judge also questioned the style of journalism by the Plaintiff, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Speaking after the verdict flanked by Kwesi Nyantakyi among other sympathisers, Kennedy Agyapong welcome the judgement insisting Anas is corrupt and a blackmailer.

Anas had said the MP had been publishing materials in his bid to discredit him after releasing an explosive piece on the rot in Ghana football and wanted the court to deal with him.

Displeased with the MP’s actions, Anas, through his lawyer, Mr Kissi Agyebeng, sued Mr Agyapong for the award of general damages for defamation in the defendant’s publications.

The publication complained of are May 29, 2018, live programme in Twi on Adom TV, where Mr Agyapong categorically stated that Anas was a blackmailer, corrupt, an extortionist and evil.
