Chris Evans’ leading lady is 10 years old in the movie Gifted

Dropping his shield, as well as costume, and stepping away from Marvel and the Avengers for a while, Chris Evans found himself working with the unlikeliest of leading ladies in a movie that’s about a young girl who turned out to be a math prodigy.

In the independent movie “Gifted”, Chris Evans starred with 10-year-old McKenna Grace. “The Avengers” star plays the role of Frank Adler while McKenna takes on the role of his niece, Mary. The story revolves around Frank’s attempt to give Mary a normal life following the disappearance of Mary’s mother.

All was going well for the uncle and niche, especially with a bit of help from a friendly neighbor in Octavia Spencer. However, their life is soon disrupted once Mary is soon held as a “one-in-a-billion” math prodigy as others attempt to separate the two.

At the time of Gifted’s release, Chris Evans recently wrapped up filming his third Avengers film. He was also about to start shooting a film about Israeli secret operatives for Gideon Raff, one of the brains behind Emmy award-winning American thriller TV series “Homeland”. It is believed that Chris Evans will step back from his role as Captain America in Marvel films soon with the conclusion of “Avengers: Infinity War”.

As for Mckenna Grace, the 10-year-old has appeared in other films since, including “Amityville: The Awakening” and “I, Tonya”.

“Gifted” was released by Fox Searchlight Pictures on April 7, 2017. The film received mixed reviews, but most were bordering on positive. The film grossed $24.8 million in the United States and Canada combined. That number was a bit lower in other territories at $17.8 million. Combined, the film grossed a total of $42 million worldwide on a $7 million budget, making it a commercial success by a huge margin.
