Colin Firth’s wife admitted last month to having an affair with an Italian journalist that she had formally accused of stalking her. Livia Firth, producer and eco-fashion evangelist, along with her Oscar-winning husband filed a complaint against an alleged stalker, journalist Marco Brancaccia on early March.

It became a complicated saga involving these three. Brancaccia is a long-time friend of Livia and a one-time lover. The statement regarding this issue read that she indeed had an affair with Brancaccia during a 2015-2016 period when she was separated during her 20-year marriage to Colin Firth.

“A few years ago Colin and Livia privately made the decision to separate,” the Firths said in a statement in early March. “During that time Livia briefly became involved with former friend Mr. Brancaccia. The Firths have since reunited.”

After hearing about the complaint, Marco Brancaccia, 55, denied “stalking” the couple and said in an interview to The Times, “We were romantically involved, she wanted to leave Colin for me. My ‘stalking’ consisted of two messages via WhatsApp after she ended our relationship in June 2016, and an e-mail. I wrote an e-mail to Colin about my relationship with Livia, which I now regret sending, and she filed a complaint against me for stalking out of fear that I could go public with what she had revealed to me about her marriage and work. In a year she sent me hundreds of messages of love, photos, and videos, even a diary.”

The police at Carabinieri have seized Brancaccia’s phone and computer and an investigation is underway.

The Firths came forth after the entire scandal later in March.  Colin and Livia have reaffirmed their commitment to stay strong and keep their marriage on solid ground.

A source told People magazine, “These two have a solid commitment, are on the same level, and worked through it.  They got back together, and things are fine. They have a good marriage. It’s not uncommon for a marriage to go through periods where it seems stale, especially with children involved.”
